  • 90 Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Wafting from the glass with notes of black cherries, cassis, fruitcake and mint, the 2016 Merlot from Ancient Peaks is full-bodied and velvety on the palate, with a generous core of savory fruit, powdery tannins and a long, flavorful finish.”

The 2016 Merlot (there’s 12% Petite Sirah) offers a charming, medium-bodied, delicious style as well as notes of black cherries, plums, and cedary spice. Drink it over the coming 3-4 years. (JD) (11/2018)

  • 90 Wine Enthusiast

Floral aromas of violet and cherry blossom drop into rich black-cherry and cocoa tones on the nose of this widely available bottling. The palate is juicy in black cherry and blackberry flavors, with accents of oak and cracked pepper.

Deep ruby. Ripe blackberry and cherry aromas are complemented by mocha and licorice nuances. Offers plush, weighty dark berry flavors that pick up a peppery quality with air and provide good palate coverage. Finishes smooth, warm and subtly sweet, with pliant tannins lending gentle grip.
