The 2014 de Chambrun is ripe, juicy and racy, with plenty of sweet red cherry and cranberry fruit. Orange peel, white pepper and sweet French oak overtones follow. This is in an especially ripe, sweet style, but there is good persistence and balance. (Tasted: 2/6/2017)

The Château de Chambrun 2014 has a perfumed, floral bouquet with blackberry, undergrowth and dried rose-petal scents that are nicely combined. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated ripe tannin, a good level of acidity, plenty of soft, sensual black fruit with a linear finish when you might have expected it to fan out. Good potential. “Deep purple, rich in the middle, garnet shimmer on the edge. Open, slightly milky bouquet, which – together with the fruit – gives a certain blackberry yoghurt touch on the nose. Aromatic on the palate, nicely rounded on the outside and ending with black currant, licorice and dark malt in the finale. For me, this wine is just as good as its own 2009 and is even more precise in terms of orientation. 17/20 2021 – 2037.” (Tasted: 4/1/2015
