65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot
An excellent wine with a nice freshness and good intensity!
Ruby red colour still in its youth, with some violet notes, of good intensity, clear and brilliant, beautiful aspect. A pleasant, fresh first nose, with a basket of red and black berries such as raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and cherry flesh, followed by notes of spices and a discreet touch of pepper. Mouth with a round and perfumed attack.
‘”This is an outstanding Ferran – the best I have tasted (thus far!). This comes highly recommended.’ – Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate –
Located at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the Château Ferran has been planted with vines ever since Montesquieu owned it in the 18th century. When savoured it unfolds like an elegant, complex, delicate-noted wine. This exceptional vintage won’t be the one to change our minds… The wine has managed to draw the best out of its terroir to bring us an intense bouquet of dark cherries and blueberries, with a slight touch of minerality. Rounded and fruity on the palate, with silky tannins, the tasting of this wine extends to an impressive complexity in the finish… This Château Ferran is exceptional!
The deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Ferran comes bounding out of the glass with energetic notes of redcurrant jelly, black raspberries and crushed blackcurrants followed by sparks of bouquet garni, cinnamon stick and iron ore. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of vibrant red and black fruits, framed by ripe, grainy tannins and tons of freshness, finishing on a lingering mineral note. (18th June, 2020)
