Margaux, France

Out of stock

    VAG JS

Grape Variety
54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot

Since Henri Lurton took over in 1992, he has made it his mission to produce the best possible wine, reinforcing Brane’s position as a second classified growth in 1855.
The result is a fine wine that perfectly expresses its remarkable terroir. The 75 hectare vineyard of Brane Cantenac is planted to 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39.5% Merlot, 4.5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot and 5% Carmenere. Carmenere was used for the first time in the 2011 vintage. The Petit Verdot was planted in 2008. 2017 is the first vintage where Petit Verdot was added to the blend.

Henri Lurton selects the youngest plots from our vineyard for Margaux de Brane. A silky, fruit-driven wine with impressive roundness and red fruit flavours, the wine is accessible in style. It offers an introduction to the wonders of the Margaux appellation and in particular to the signature style of Brane.

  • Vinous - Antoni Galloni

The 2017 Margaux de Brane is a tasty offering from Brane-Cantenac. Pretty floral and savory overtones give the 2017 notable freshness to play off a core of sweet red cherry and red plum fruit complemented by a hint of blood orange. (Tasted: 3/11/2020)

  • James Suckling:

Very attractive aromas of red flowers and crushed red berries, as well as gently spicy oak and stony notes. The palate has a wrap of oak spice around briary berries, in a fresh, lively and attractive style. A blend of 54% cabernet sauvignon and 46% merlot. Third wine of Château Brane-Cantenac. Drink now. (Tasted: 1/13/2020)
