Tasting Notes
Consulted by famous owner Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (chateau Angélus, La Fleur de Boüard) as part of its consultant oenologist activity, La Pointe wine estate offers a 2014 La Pointe wine with a nice deep purple-tinted colour. The nose of this Pomerol is very pure, full of slightly spicy black fruit. In the palate, the entry is smooth and round, really juicy, then intensifies, displaying a good dense structure. The tannins are well placed and tightly knit. The finish is elevated and fresh throughout, the Cabernet Francs conveying persistence and complexity.

  • 92 James Suckling

Beautiful dark-fruit and wet-stone aromas follow through to a medium body, integrated and polished tannins and a fresh, fruity finish. Always a mineral undertone to this. (2/16/2017)

  • 89-92 Wine Spectator

A toasted, showy style, with layers of warmed vanilla bean and fruitcake out front, backed by fleshy plum sauce and red licorice notes. Should be a crowdpleaser. (3/31/2015)

  • 90 Vinous Antonio Galloni

The 2014 La Pointe is soft, pliant and quite tasty, all of which make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Ripe red stone fruit, cedar, tobacco and dried flowers add lovely shades of nuance in this open-knit, inviting Pomerol. (2/6/2017)

  • 90+ Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2014 La Pointe has a composed, truffle and smoke tinged bouquet that opens nicely in the glass, touches of incense emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, fine tannin and well-judged acidity. This is refined and poised, displaying commendable energy and harmony towards the finish that begs you back for another sip. This is a well-made La Pointe from Eric Monnoret, a Pomerol that seems to be improving now that it is in bottle. One to watch… Tasted twice with consistent notes. (3/31/2017)
