85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc
Château Tauzinat l’Hermitage, located on the plateau of Saint-Emilion, has one of the most beautiful terroirs of the right bank of Bordeaux. With 9 ham merlot and cabernet franc on a clay-limestone soil, the domain delivers a charming wine with a beautiful aromatic complexity. Château Tauzinat l’Hermitage owes its name to the “tauzin” oaks (Pyrenean oaks). Known for the truffles that grow underneath, they have been fringing the grounds of the domain for several centuries.
The deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Tauzinat l’Hermitage sings of baked plums, blueberry pie and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of licorice. Full-bodied, the palate is packed with black fruit layers and plenty of savory and spicy sparks, framed by firm, rounded tannins, finishing long. (24 April, 2019)
“St-Emilion exuberance combines with the perkiness of the vintage. Damson fruits and roasted coffee beans finish a little sweet but it’s appealing and certainly works. There is oak here but it’s well handled, giving a toasted almond touch and drawing out the finish.”
