Description
2017 was a good vintage for Sauvignon Blanc. Moderate summer heat led to relatively early pick dates in order to get the Sauvignon Blanc off the vine with balanced acidity and ripeness. The flavors are highlighted by grassy herbal notes balanced with ripe melon and watermelon rind. On the palate, this light-bodied wine is juicy with casaba melon, lemon curd, and tangerine notes. Slight herbal nuances are framed with crisp acidity and finish with a touch of Meyer lemon.

Commentary: For aperitifs and cocktail wine service, Sauvignon Blanc continues to be one of my favorite choices. The 2017 Leese-Fitch is perfect for such occasions.

Tasting Notes: This wine is endearing. Its aromas and flavors of ripe melon and flowers are a pleasing prelude to its smooth and textured palate. Serve it with ham, Swiss, and buttered baguette. (Tasted: June 26, 2018, San Francisco, CA)

Wine & Spirits:
With its green notes of underripe pineapple, this sauvignon’s flavors bring to mind prickly pear and sugar snap peas. It’s a round, smoky white to chill for a seafood salad. (10/2018)

Wine Enthusiast:
This is a good middle-of-the-road wine with sufficient fruit flavors and fairly crisp acidity that will make it quite food-friendly. It’s light to medium in body, and has light lemon and herb flavors. (JG) (8/2018)

Wine Spectator:
Fruity and appealing, with passion fruit, mango and peach flavors that are fresh and juicy, showing terrific intensity on the finish. (MW, Web only-2018)

Food Suggestions: Salads and Green Vegetables, Niçoise Salad pairs well with this 2017 Sauvignon Blanc. It is also an excellent hard cheese wine – Manchego or aged Gouda are delicious.
