Winemaker’s Notes:
La Joie exhibits the structure, depth and power of Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma County, and takes inspiration from the lauded reds France’s Pauillac.

The nose is rich, complex and creamy, dominated by fruit with a very discreet nose of oak. The wine shows itself on the palate without restraint and expresses its complexity, power, delight and richness with notes of ripe, round black fruits such as cassis and black cherry. The finish is pronounced by the Cabernet Sauvignon, similar to a grand Pauillac. This La Joie is a grandiose wine in an excellent vintage and will age for 30 years or more.

The Verite La Joie 2013 is among the top 1% of wines in the world with a score of 100 on Robert Parker. From Sonoma country, this wine is deep red with purple hues.

It’s rich, Comples and creamy on the nose with oak, charcoal and earthy undertones. On the palate it is powerul, with notes of casis and black crerry sinning through. This red is an excellent vintage with a pronounced finish – a true beauty!

“The 2013 La Joie, which is 46% from Knights Valley, 32% from Chalk Hill and 22% from Alexander Valley, Showing loads of graphite, cedar wood, charcoal, crème de cassis and forest floor, this may well turn out to be a 50+-year wine. It tastes like a great first-growth Pauillac and has an amazing amount of complexity and richness”. (RP) (10/2015)

Sensational aromas of blackberries, blueberries, violets and wet earth. Tar undertones. Full body, chewy yet polished tannins and a long, flavorful finish. A neoclassical wine with a great future. A majority of cabernet sauvignon in this Bordeaux blend. (2/2018)

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers concentration, a nice depth as well as a beautiful complexity. The wine wins to be decanted. It reveals notes of blackberry and more slightly wild red berries associated with slight notes of soil, cocoa, coffee, wood, a subtle touch of violet as well as discreet touches of Sichuan pepper, a slight touch of truffle and roasting. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a very pretty finesse, a pretty suavity, a beautiful structure, firmness, a slight straight, a very slight austerity as well as a nice slight, silky and slightly velvety. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy / juicy blackberry, fleshy / crushed strawberry and slight notes of raspberry, cassis associated with touches of toasted oak, chocolate, slight touches of cornflower as well as a very discreet hint of grove,a subtle hint of crunchy red berries (in the background) and nutmeg. Good length and persistence. There are slight hints of mocha / tonka bean as well as a subtle hint of tobacco, roasting on the persistence.

The most brooding and massive wine in the Verité portfolio, creamy cassis, plum and graphite are followed by a large-scaled, dense and intensely concentrated, savoury wine which lives up to its reputation as Sonoma’s answer to Pauillac. (5/2016)
